At Felsted Woollen Mill in Essex, we provide a fully integrated wool processing service for flock owners, farms, designers, crafters, makers and businesses who want to Add Value to their wool fibres, while at the same time retain the fibre's identity and provenance.

We can process anything from a single fleece through to commercial-scale batches, with an installed processing capacity of approximately 1.5 tonnes of greasy fleece per month / 18 tonnes per year.

Most importantly:

Your wool remains your wool.

We maintain batch identity throughout processing so that the fibre returned to you can be traced back to the farm, flock, breed — and, where required, individual batches or the animals from which it originated.

Depending on your requirements, we can undertake individual processing stages or manage the complete journey from raw fleece to finished yarn.

Our services include:

• Scour only — washing greasy fleece ready for further processing or your own use

• Scour & Open — opening and preparing washed fibre 

• Scour, Open & Card — producing carded batts up to 1m x 2m x 150mm, or woollen slivers.

• Scour, Open, Card & Gill / Pin Draft — for a more aligned semi-worsted preparation

• Scour, Open, Card,Gill / Pin Draft & Spin — including lace, DK and chunky yarns, single or multiple ply, suitable for Warp, Weft, Socks, Knitting or speciality Crochet work

• Plying - as required

• Yarn Finishing as Skein, balls or Coning

• Bespoke and stock dyeing and colour development, from as little as 100g

• Fiber blending for both R&D or Production

• Pre-production or pre scale-up fibre test runs on industrial grade machines
