£20 deposit, credited against your final processing invoice
Felsted Woollen Mill in Essex offers small-batch wool processing of raw fleece through to finished fibre and yarn for individual crafters as well as flocks, big and small.
We have designed our process so that we can maintain batch traceability throughout — your wool remains your wool. We guarantee to return your fibres.
Depending on what you require, we can provide:

Scouring and opening

Carding to batts or rovings

Gilling to semi-worsted tops

Spinning to any gauge, from Lace through to Chunky

Plying - we can make Singles, 2, 3, 4... ply, depending on your need

Dyeing - we can dye anything from 100g, up to 100 kgs, using our range of stock colours, or we can mix or match any colour you would like to replicate.
How to reserve your processing slot

Select the level of processing that most closely matches what you would like us to do.

Add one £20 deposit to your basket for the batch you would like us to process.

At checkout, please give us your contact details and, if possible:

the breed or type of fleece;

the approximate number of individual fleeces or total weight of fleece (We will weigh it accurately on receipt);

what you would like us to produce for you.

We will contact you to discuss your fleece, confirm the processing required and agree when it should be delivered to the mill.
Please do not send or deliver fleece until we have agreed a date with you.
Your deposit
The £20 deposit reserves your place in our processing schedule and will be deducted from your final processing invoice.
Before processing starts, we will discuss your requirements and confirm the proposed work and charges with you.
If, after inspection, we consider the fleece unsuitable for the requested process, we will discuss the available options with you before doing any chargeable work.
Small batches welcome
We have designed Felsted Woollen Mill specifically to allow us to work with and track relatively small, identifiable batches as well as larger quantities.
Whether you have a few fleeces from your own flock or a substantially larger batch, please contact us to discuss what you would like to produce.
Your fleece remains identifiable
One of the principal advantages of our process is traceability.
We keep customer batches separate through processing so that the fibre or yarn returned to you is produced from your own fleece, rather than being exchanged for or mixed with fibre from an anonymous bulk batch.
